BJP MLA clarifies and apologizes for his “Will Kidnap the Girls” statement

Shielding himself, Mr. Kadam commented that the video was out of shape and had been edited to an extent I did say, ‘‘I will take the boys to the girl’s parents and only if they agree, I will get you married to that girl.’’ This statement made his own party members stand with him and met the sharp criticism from his rivals.

BJP MLA, Ram Kadam from Mumbai’s Ghatkopar west attending his Dahi Handi celebration promises to seizure girls for the boys who they like even if the girl has rejected the proposal given by the boy. “If you propose to a girl and she refuses, you come to me with your parents, If they also like the girl, I will kidnap her and give it to you,’’ Mr. Kadam told the audience. He offers his number for it. The video for the same Mr. Kadam talking to the men was shared by NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad on Twitter.

People soon started criticizing Kadam for his comments and also said that Shame on you Mr. Kadam for your words. People asked if this is how the women in our country will be safe? While we’re on the subject, Mr. Kadam’s Twitter handle claims that he is a Guinness World Record holder for being the brother to 60,000 sisters. That’s how your sisters are protected? Is that what brotherhood is? While on the other hand the same leading BJP Government upholds and is promoting ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and is working for the betterment of the same, but seems from this episode of Dahi Handi comments by BJP’s own MLA, Mr. Kadam is up for a new crusade.

Shielding himself, Mr. Kadam commented that the video was out of shape and had been edited to an extent I did say, ‘‘I will take the boys to the girl’s parents and only if they agree, I will get you married to that girl.’’ He even shared a video byte on his twitter handle stating that he unconditionally apologizes for his comments on Dahi Handi occasion regarding his comments.

This statement made his own party members stand with him and met the sharp criticism from his rivals. BJP’s Maharashtra ally Shiv Sena also slammed Mr. Kadam for this controversial statement. The Yuva Sena Chief, Aaditya Thackeray, said that this is sheer humiliation that the Maharashtra Assembly has members like Mr. Kadam and then asked for an apology from him.

BJP MLA has offered to help boys kidnap girls and marry them even in opposition to the fortitude of the girl. “One BJP MLA has offered from a stage to help boys kidnap girls and marry them even against the will of the girls. I guess he believes marriage is like forming a govt. Ashamed and disgraced that he sits in the legislative assembly of Maharashtra – a land of Culture & women liberty,” Mr. Thackeray Tweeted.

Now the Sena leader wants to know from the Home Minister and CM Devendra Fadnavis as what actions will be taken in opposition to Mr. Kadam for his speech and misleading the youth of the nation. “Not just an outright apology from him, but I’d want to know from the Home Minister of Maharashtra what action will be taken for openly making such statements that threaten the safety of girls and offering safety to those wanting to kidnap them,” added Aditya Thackeray further to his last tweet.

Mr. Kadam is a person who during the beginning of his political career was with Raj Thackeray and ruled Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) from Ghatkopar constituency. He won the elections of the assembly in 2009 as MNS candidate. Soon he was suspended for assaulting the MLA Abu Azmi of the Samajwadi Party in the assembly hall. The suspension was later revoked. He became component of the argument inside the assembly domain with a policeman, along with another MLA. Hence he has always been in controversies in one way or the other.

However, this time it is the open threatening statement against the safety of the girls. We ask who is offering safety to those wanting to kidnap them? Government?
