Shiv Sena Minister Deepak Kesarkar clarifies over the Gang-rape Survivor’s Claim of Mistreatment, Chief Minister orders Inquiry

Kesarkar in his clarification denied of mistreating the woman and refuted the woman's claim for using any foul language towards her. The minister clarified that he didn't use any foul words against the woman and that his words have been mistreated. The woman was assured by Kesarkar for delivering justice to her in the alleged gang-rape case and that the culprits will be booked. After she saw no action on the promise, the woman approached the minister to follow up.

The Minister of State for Home, Deepak Kesarkar, has come out in a video as well as posted a Facebook post to defend himself in the accusation made by an alleged gang-rape survivor hailing from Kalyan locality, for the mistreatment by the Minister in his Mumbai office. Kesarkar in his clarification denied of mistreating the woman and refuted the woman’s claim for using any foul language towards her.

“Mi Nehmi mahilancha aadar karto (I respect women always),” asserted Kesarkar in the video. He further went to state that the lady had come with her husband who used ‘upshabda’ (derogatory) words against the police department to which he said, “mothyane bolu naka, tumchyasathi police adhikshkaanna sambandhit prakarnaachi mahiti ghenyasaathi bolavle hote. Mag tyachyavishayi chukiche bolne yogya naahi, (Don’t talk like a Biggie, the police officer has been called to gain details of the concerned matter and hence, using foul language against them is not appropriate),”

The minister clarified that he didn’t use any foul words against the woman and that his words have been mistreated. Earlier on Monday, a woman had filed an FIR (First Information Report) in Mumbai’s Marine Drive Police Station against the minister for mistreating her when she approached him for the inaction against the atrocities on her and her minor daughter. The woman is reportedly an alleged gang-rape survivor from Kalyan district of Maharashtra who was, along with her minor daughter, drugged and gang-raped by 7 men in May 2017.

When she approached the police department to file case against the accused, only one person’s name was entered in the complaint on a politician’s pressure, she claimed. The other 6 are away from the law’s nab and the accused have been threatening her for dire consequences. She also claimed that she has changed her house 5 times in just 6 months, reported Mumbai Live. The FIR was registered only after 45 days from the day of crime, the woman claimed. The woman in her FIR has stated that the minister yelled at her while making a statement “What’s your worth, don’t talk much” before she was shown the door.

The woman was assured by Kesarkar for delivering justice to her in the alleged gang-rape case and that the culprits will be booked. After she saw no action on the promise, the woman approached the minister to follow up. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, has ordered an inquiry in the case and asked the DGP, Datta Padsalgikar, to investigate the case.
