‘World’s First Chromebook Detachable’ Laptop-cum-Tab, HP Chromebook X2, Launched

The Chromebook X2 is priced $599.99 (Approx. INR 39,000) against $649 (Approx. INR ) of a 12.9-inch iPad Pro and will be available for purchase from June 10. It will be purchasable from HP's own e-com website hp.com and Best Buy stores in the US.

The California headquartered tech brand, HP, has launched a Laptop-cum-Tab device, HP Chromebook X2, for the US consumers. The company claims it to be ‘World’s First Chromebook Detachable’ device. To recall, Asus had launched Asus Chromebook Flip which offers Swivel back and which can form a flattened-out tablet thanks to it’s 360-degree movable hinges. However, the Asus Chromebook Flip is not detachable but can be used as a tablet with Android app support.

Talking about Chromebook X2, HP calls it detachable as the screen is detachable with the keypad and can be used as a tablet. The Chromebook X2 is priced $599.99 (Approx. INR 39,000) against it’s rival 12.9-inch iPad Pro which is priced $649 (Approx. INR 42,246). The HP Chromebook X2 sports 12.3-inch Quad-HD display and looks similar to an iPad Pro differing on various specs, of course. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and docks with a keyboard cover and is compatible with stylus input. The HP Chromebook X2 sports rear and front camera for snapping pictures and video calls too. At the rear, the laptop sports a 13-megapixel camera lens while a 5-megapixel lens at the front. The most highlight feature of HP’s detachable laptop is it’s Chrome OS which supports Android apps.

The laptop is powered by the 7th Generation Intel Core M3 processor paired with a 4GB LPDDR3 RAM but also available with 8GB LPDDR3 RAM variant. The internal storage capacity i.e. ROM of the laptop is 32GB expandable to 256GB using a MicroSD card. The company is also offering 100GB cloud storage for 2-years along with the Chromebook X2. As for the Audio, the company has integrated B&O Play’s technology based speakers. On the connectivity front, the laptop features Wifi, USB Type C, a headphone jack and MicroSD card slot for memory extension. The laptop is fuelled by a battery offering 10.5 hours of battery life.
