Moto Z3 Play with Moto Mods, Dual-lens Camera and Snapdragon 636 SoC Launched

The smartphone is splash and dust resitant, thanks to it's aluminium and glass unibody. The new Moto Z-series smartphone is priced BRL 2,299 (Approx. INR 40,000) in Brazil, while it may arrive US later at USD 499 (Approx. INR 33,500). It is reported to be available globally in approximately a month time.

Moto Z3 Play with some similar specifications as leaked in some earlier rumours, finally launched officially in Brazil on Thursday. The smartphone features the highlight feature of Moto Mods along with AMOLED display, dual lens camera setup at the back, Snapdragon 636 chipset and many more. The smartphone is splash and dust resistant, thanks to it’s aluminium and glass unibody. The new Moto Z-series smartphone is priced BRL 2,299 (Approx. INR 40,000) in Brazil, while it may arrive US later at USD 499 (Approx. INR 33,500). It is reported to be available globally in approximately a month time. Moto Z3 Play sports a 6.1-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with resolution of 1080×2160 pixels and pixel density of 402 ppi. The screen comes with 18:9 aspect ratio which the company calls as Max Vision with 79% screen-to-body ratio. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and the body is built with 6000 series aluminium frame. As for the lens, the smartphone sports a dual lens camera setup at the back with a dual LED flash. The dual lens camera comprises of 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and 5-megapixel sensor with in-depth view, and dual Autofocus pixel Technology i.e. PDAF.

At the front, it bears an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree wide angle view for group selfies. The camera features include portrait mode, manual mode, cutout mode, Cinemagraphs, YouTube live mode, Panorama, etc. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, paired with 4GB RAM and packs Adreno 509 GPU. It comes with 32GB as well as 64GB inbuilt storage capacity, expandable to up to 2TB using a MicroSD card. Moto Z3 Play is fuelled by a 3,000mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery and the company claims it to get fully charged in 30minutes using it’s 15W Turbocharger.

On the connectivity front, it features 4G LTE support along with WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, USB Type C 1.0, FM Radio and NFC. Sensors on-board are fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, Magnetometer, Gyroscope and Ultrasonic. It weighs 156g and measures 76.5×156.5×6.75mm.
