Huawei Y6 (2018) With 18:9 Display, Snapdragon 425 SoC and 3,000mAh Battery Announced

Where Y6 (2017) did not feature 18:9 display and runs on a MediaTek processor, Y6 (2018) features 18:9 display along with a Snapdragon 425 chipset and Face Unlock feature. Talking about the price, Huawei hasn't revealed the price and availability of the smartphone.

The Chinese tech brand, Huawei, has announced the launch of a new Y-series smartphone called Huawei Y6 (2018) on Thursday. The smartphone is an upgraded version of Huawei Y6 (2017) launched in May 2017. Where Y6 (2017) did not feature 18:9 display and runs on a MediaTek processor, Y6 (2018) features 18:9 display along with a Snapdragon 425 chipset and Face Unlock feature. Talking about the price, Huawei hasn’t revealed the price and availability of the smartphone for the consumers similar to what they did with the announcement of Y6 (2017) model. Huawei Y6 (2018) dominates the front with a 5.7-inch HD+ (720x1440px) IPS LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 75.6% screen-to-body ratio, pixel density of 282ppi and 2.5D curved glass. On the optics front, the smartphone sports a 13-megapixel camera sensor at the back with an LED flash. At the front, it sports a 5-megapixel lens with selfie toning flash and AR features that will enhance the selfie experience of the user. The front camera can be used for Face Unlock feature which is trending in every other smartphone these days.

The smartphone runs EMUI 8.0 based Android 8.0 Oreo OS. It is powered by a Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 SoC clocked at up to 1.4GHz Cortex-A53, paired with 2GB RAM and Adreno 308 GPU. With regards to the internal memory, Y6 (2018) features only 16GB Internal memory expandable to up to 256GB using a MicroSD card. As far as the battery power is concerned, the smartphone is fueled by a similar capacity battery of 3000mAh of that of Y6 (2017).

On the connectivity front, Y6 (2018) encapsulates 4G VoLTE compatible dual Nano SIM slots but can be used on a standby mode only. Other connectivity options are WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2 LE, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, NFC, Micro-USB 2.0 and 3.5mm Audio Jack. Although sensors onboard misses fingerprint sensor, it does feature proximity sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and gravity sensor. The smartphone weighs 150g and measures 152.4x73x7.8mm.
