The staunch critics of Shiv Sena led Maha Vikas Aaghadi (MVA) government, Kirit Somaiya, on Monday, June 21, jibed at MVA ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar by calling his dream to unite opposition parties against Prime Minister Narendra Modi a pipedream. The eminent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Maharashtra, Kirit Somaiya, emphasized that uniting opposition parties against PM Modi will fructify no-one in opposition.
Somaiya said that NCP chief’s dream to form a strong opposition against BJP will turn out to be a pipedream, and meant that BJP will remain unharmed by it. “At a time when Maharashtra is going out of control, NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena are cursing one another. Sharad Pawar ji is dreaming ‘Mungeri Lal ke haseen sapney’ (a pipedream),” said Somaiya, quoted by ANI report.
The BJP leader went berserk at NCP chief and stated that BJP will come out unharmed no matter what opposition front is formed by anyone. “He (NCP Chief) is trying to get the opposition together at a time Shiv Sena is showing them the chappal, and there is a rampant mismanagement of COVID in the state,” said Somaiya in his address, quoted by ANI.
The BJP leader was reacting to the news of NCP Chief striving to unite the opposition against BJP at the national level. The news broke after NCP leader, Nawab Malik, shared the news that Sharad Pawar will meet all the opposition parties from Tuesday onwards to unite them against BJP. The meeting of opposition parties is said to include parties like Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), National Conference (NC), Trinamool Congress (TMC), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), etc.
Prominent opposition leaders like Sanjay Singh, Pawan Verma, Farooq Abdullah, Javed Akhtar, Karan Thapar, Yashwant Sinha, etc. are expected to attend the all party opposition meet on Tuesday.
