Devendra Fadnavis again Questions CM Uddhav Thackeray: “How many more offenders will you protect for the desperation of power?”

In the next tweet by Fadnavis in the series of tweets, he recalled the irony of MVA government's existence in the state where Usmani came back to Pune, countered the action and "slapped a reply" to Maharashtra CM and ran away from the state. He alleged in his tweet that Section 295A of IPC (outraging religious sentiments) was purposely and "systematically" removed from the First Information Report (FIR) while filing it to facilitate easy access to bail by Usmani.

The news making Leader of Opposition (LoP) from Maharashtra Assembly and former Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, again came out to lash out at Maha Vikas Aaghadi (MVA) government on Tuesday, Mar 16. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader called Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, the protector of offenders “in desperation of power” in wake of Sharjeel Usmani row.

The former CM of the state made a mockery of CM Uddhav Thackeray’s claim of apprehending Sharjeel Usmani from “any corner of the world” but in contrast, working to safeguard him from all the legal challenges. In his tweet, Fadnavis called it a “Height of Hypocrisy” and recalled CM Thackeray’s alleged shallow tall claims of adverse action against Sharjeel Usmani.

“In reality, Sharjeel came again in Pune,countered,slapped a reply to CM, went back ! Just to protect him & help getting bail easily,section 295A of IPC(used for outraging religious sentiments) too got systematically removed from basic complaint,while registering the FIR by State.” read the followup tweet by the erstwhile CM of Maharashtra on Tuesday.

He also made serious allegations against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray led MVA alliance government of purposely invoking only Section 153A of IPC (for promoting enmity between different groups) in the FIR.

“So,only section 153A(for promoting enmity between different groups) is invoked in the FIR. When Sharjeel attempted to wage a war against our Nation during Elgar Parishad,we assumed that all respective sections of IPC including 124a (sedition), 295a will be invoked by the State.” read the tweet by Devendra Fadnavis in his followup tweet on Tuesday.

The Maharashtra Assembly’s audacious LoP then went on to make a direct question to Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray as to what extent would he go to protect the offenders in order to stay in power “in desperation”.

“On top of all this, they are being helped by MVA to get bail ❗️Uddhav ji, how many more offenders will you protect for the desperation of power ” read the concluding tweet by Devendra Fadnavis.

A video of a man, Sharjeel Usmani, who had allegedly raised slogans against Hindu community in the Elgar Parishad event on January 30 had gone viral subsequent to the event. Ever since, the demand for arrest of Sharjeel Usmani was high among the public discourse and from the opposition parties in the state.

Sachin Waze is also accused of involvement in the mysterious death of Mansukh Hiren.
