Punjab: Free Travel Service to Women, Pension Scheme of Freedom Fighters increased to Rs. 1500 per Month

The Punjab government on Monday brought relief to the senior citizens also by doubling the Social Security Pension amount of the elderly citizens to Rs. 1500/month. He also announced that the freedom fighters will get the pension of Rs. 9,400 per month. Also, the Punjab government will provide assistance under Ashirwad Scheme upto Rs. 51,000.

The Congress party led Punjab government implemented a revision in its state budget on Monday, Mar 8, to promote free travel services to women across the state. In his announcement on the International Women’s Day, the Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, announced that his government in the state has decided to provide travel-free services to all the women across the state on the government buses. He emphasized in the same message that his government is at the forefront to empower the women and the strive to remain committed in this regard will continue.

“I am happy to share that @PunjabGovtIndia has decided to make travel free for women across the state in all Government buses. We have been persistent in our efforts to empower our women and we will continue doing the same. Happy #InternationalWomensDay to everyone.,” read the tweet by the Punjab CM on Monday.

“Our Budget aims at directly helping the Women, Elderly, Under-Privileged, & Freedom Fighters. Which is why Social Security Pension has been doubled to Rs 1500/p.m., pension of Freedom Fighters increased to Rs 9400/p.m. & assistance under Aashirwad Scheme increased to Rs. 51,000.” read the tweet by CM Capt. Amarinder Singh.

The state’s most popular Chief Minister also highlighted his contentment over the successful presentation of common men centric 5th budget in the state. “Happy with the way our 5th Budget has maintained balance between Punjab’s present needs & the needs of our future generations. Farmers, Healthcare, Education, Women, Social Security & Development of State Infrastructure form the core pillars of the State Budget & our governance.” tweeted Punjab CM on Monday in a series of tweets.
