A Chamoli court in Uttarakhand has awarded 10 years imprisonment to a man for raping a minor girl in 2018.
The District & Sessions Judge RP Chauhan of Chamoli’s District & Session Court on Friday, Feb 19 ordered 10 years of rigorous imprisonment to the man identified as Girish Lal who was convicted of raping a minor in 2018, informed Special Public Prosecutor, Mohan Pant. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 for abducting and raping the minor in 2018, added SPP Pant.
The court was hearing the matter as a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Lal under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) 2018, SPP Pant added.
Recently a Patna Court ordered Death Penalty to an accused Private School Principal for raping a minor. Another accomplice was awarded life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 50,000. The order has brought a wave of relief to the victim and her family as the victim turned pregnant due to repeated sexual activities with the victim. The details of the crime surfaced in the victim’s family’s knowledge after the minor victim fell ill and started vomiting. On pressing the victim by the parents, the victim unfolded the truth to her parents. The judgment by the Patna Court will set an example before the criminal minded persons in the society.
