A heart wrenching and disturbing news, on Wednesday, Feb 11, got reported from Delhi’s Mangolpuri locality where a 25-year old Bajrang Dal activist was mercilessly killed by a group of rivals from the same locality allegedly for chanting “Jai Shree Ram” and participating actively in the Grand Ram Mandir Donation Drive. The deceased is identified as Rinku Sharma and the accused are identified as Mohammed Danish (36), Mohammed Islam (45), Zahid (26), Mohammed Mehtab (20) and Tajuddin (39). Surprisingly, Rinku had reportedly donated blood for a relative of one of the accused one year back.
As per several reports, Rinku’s family alleged that the accused had tussled with Rinku for the latter’s active involvement in Hindu activities.
“Rinku was associated with Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. Last year in August when Rinku and his friends carried out a Ram Rath Yatra (procession), these people objected to it and fought with him. It is a retaliation of that which led to his murder,” Rinku’s brother Mannu Sharma was quoted as saying in HT report.
The police denied to favour the family’s claim, however, did not rule out their claims as the ongoing investigation will reveal the essential reason for the brutal killing of Rinku. While briefing the media, Delhi police spokesperson, Chinnmoy Biswal, stated that the deceased Bajrang Dal activist had an argument with the accused recently in a birthday party over their eateries at Rohini Vihar. The accused allegedly along with 11-20 others barged into Rinku’s house, where Rinku was stabbed to death.
The Delhi unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – leader Kapil Mishra and unit president Adesh Gupta – asked Police to hear the family before briefing any story to the media. “Police need to listen to the family before coming to a conclusion. This is not an isolated incident in Delhi. Ankit Saxena, Dhruv Tyagi, Dr. Narang, all were killed in the same manner. Police have to prove a lot,” stated Mishra, quoted HT report.
“Rinku Sharma was socially active. He was also associated with collecting contributions for the construction of Ram Temple. The BJP strongly condemns his brutal murder,” said BJP Delhi Unit President, Adesh Gupta, quoted Jagran report.
