The alleged feud between Maharashtra government and Republic TV Editor-in-Chief, Arnab Goswami, yet doesn’t seem to settle anytime soon after the Maharashtra State Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh, expressed suspicion about leaking of some “sensitive information” in an alleged WhatsApp chat. The state HM stated on Monday, Jan 18 that he is gathering information about an alleged WhatsApp chat between Goswami and former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Partho Dasgupta in the past.
Anil Deshmukh surmised of some sensitive information being a part of the leaked WhatsApp conversation between Republic TV journo and Partho. Deshmukh also doubted that some information pertaining to highly sensitive incidents like Balakot Airstrike and Pulwama terror attack were discussed in the WhatsApp chat between the two highly known office bearers of BARC and Republic TV.

“We are looking as to how Arnab Goswami got access to such sensitive information. We have called a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan 19) to decide our next course of action,” said Maha HM, quoted ANI. It will be interesting to witness the new twist in the story cropping up between Maharashtra Government and Arnab Goswami as the feud doesn’t seem to settle anytime soon from now.
The Republic TV is facing allegations of its alleged involvement in the alleged Television Rating Point (TRP) scam that cropped up in Oct 2020. The chargesheet filed by Mumbai Police in the case mentions this WhatsApp chat between Goswami and former BARC CEO. The next twist in the story may crop up on Tuesday after the meeting of Deshmukh with his officials concludes.
