The Congress party incharge for Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Friday, Dec 18, called it the day of triumph over wrong after Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed the much awaited chargesheet against four accused in one of the most disturbing cases of 2020, the Hathras alleged Gang rape and Murder case of a 19-year old woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras. The Congress party leader tweeted her contentment over the investigation in the case upon CBI filing the chargesheet in the case. She said that the family of the victim was threatened, however, “truth triumphed” over other factors.
“One one side, the injustice was protected by the government. The family, on the other hand, looked forward to justice. The victim’s body was burnt forcibly. There were attempts to discredit the victim. The family was threatened. But eventually, truth triumphed. Satyamev Jayate,” read the tweet roughly translated in English from the original tweet in Hindi by the Congress party General Secretary.

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party (SP) Scion, Akhilesh Yadav, also commended the filing of the chargesheet by CBI and alleged that it was difficult to see this day without fighting with BJP. He tweeted that irrespective of efforts by CM Yogi Adityanath led UP Government to suppress the matter, the CBI took charge to investigate the case under pressure from public, oppositions and the real media.

Yadav went ahead to tweet one more post advising BJP workers and leaders to observe 2-minute mourning for their questionable acts in the Hathras case.
“The BJP leaders and supporters should keep at least two minutes of silence and pardon themselves for condolences for playing an immoral role with the death of their morality due to injustice done to ‘Hathras’ daughter’ Should be asked forToday every daughter and sister family has got some peace.” read the tweet by Yadav on Friday.
The Hathras case came to light in October when reportedly in September after the dalit victim was admitted in Safdarjung hospital of Delhi for her injuries. However, the victim couldn’t survive and succumbed to her injuries. The UP administration allegedly forcibly burnt the victim’s body without allowing the family to do the last rites of the victim.
The UP administration was reprehended for this act and several media houses tried to meet the victim’s family which the Yogi government seemed to hesitate to allow. However, after several days of struggle, the media met the victim’s family who accused the administration of pressurising them.After much criticism, the UP Government handed over the case to the central premiere agency which has submitted the charge sheet on Friday.
