The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and erstwhile advisor of Dy. Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, Atishi Marlena, on Sunday, Dec 13, hit at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with an allegation that the party is protecting those involved in alleged Rs. 2500 crore scam in North Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). In her allegations, she accused Lt. Governor, Anil Baijal, and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah of protecting BJP functionaries involved in the alleged scam.
Atishi stated that she and her other leaders had gone to meet the Lt. Governor in order to seek a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the alleged giant scam. “BJP leaders have kept Rs. 2500 crore in their pockets. It is the money of doctors, nurses and teachers. We were demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation enquiry and we were going to meet LG Baijal and Home Minister Amit Shah. We were hoping that they will give consent for the CBI enquiry, but our leaders were detained from home,” said AAP leader, Atishi Marlena, quoted ANI.
While speaking at a Press Conference on Sunday, AAP Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Atishi stated that only four MLAs had gone to meet the LG but he did not meet anyone. In contrast, they all were detained by the police as there was heavy police force deployment at LG’s residence. “Heavy police force was deployed at LG’s residence. Only four people went to meet him but he did not meet us. We were detained. We want to know from Amit Shah and LG Sahib, which BJP leaders are they protecting. This is a big scam and they are trying to protect the leaders of BJP.,” stated Atishi while addressing the press in her press conference.
Atishi claimed that the alleged MCD scam is bigger than the so far considered biggest scam in Delhi, Commonwealth games scam, that took place during Congress party regime in Delhi. “Commonwealth games scam is considered as biggest scam of Delhi. But the corruption that occurred in North MCD has left behind the commonwealth scam. BJP councillors and leaders siphoned off Rs. 2500 crore of MCD workers, teachers, nurses and doctors,” concluded Atishi in her list of allegations against BJP leaders, quoted ANI.
Another AAP leader, Raghav Chadha, also hit out at BJP and Delhi police. He accused Delhi police of treating AAP protesters and BJP protesters differently. He alleged that he along with only 3 more MLAs had gone to meet the LG but they were detained citing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. However, he alleged that several BJP protesters are agitating outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office, but Delhi police do not dare detain them.
