One More Daughter Dies: Bulandshehr Alleged Gang Rape Victim Kills Self after Police Delayed Action on her Complaint

The victim stated in the note that she lodged a complaint about the unfortunate incident of gang rape to the Anupshahr police station. She stated that Kamruddin apologized to her and even offered to marry her after which she chose not to pursue complaint.

A victim of an alleged Gang Rape from Bulandshehr killed herself after her complaint to police saw snarling action from the police, the family of the victim alleged.

The victim is identified as a 19-year-old law student, who took her life on Monday, and left behind a suicide note in which she has unravelled the mystery behind taking this extreme step. As indicated in the note, the deceased victim said that on October 3, she was abducted by one of the accused named Kamruddin and his three accomplices. She alleged in the note that she was gangraped by them.

The victim stated in the note that she lodged a complaint about the unfortunate incident of gang rape to the Anupshahr police station. She stated that Kamruddin apologized to her and even offered to marry her after which she chose not to pursue her complaint.

On October 16, Kamruddin and other accomplices again allegedly gangraped her and the police subsequently registered a complaint against the accused only on October 24, however, the Anupshahr police failed to make any substantial action on her complaint, the note stated. The victim’s father told the local reporters that his girl chose to take the extreme step after she gave up on her hope of any action by police on the accused.

Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Kumar Singh said that the matter was being examined and the investigating officer, who apparently delayed the investigation on the victim’s complaint, has been suspended.

“The role of inspector Anupshahr and the circle officer is being probed by SP crime and action will be taken if found guilty,” Singh assured.

As per a police source, in the meanwhile, claimed that during the initial investigation, the mobile phone of the accused was traced to an area other than that alleged by the victim which resulted into the delay in action by the police.
