In a deplorable incident, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP), Rita Bahuguna’s eight-year-old granddaughter died due to getting burnt from fireworks on Diwali night. The tragic incident reportedly took place at Joshi’s Prayagraj residence. The young girl was at first admitted to a hospital in the city but was alluded to All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi as her condition weakened further.

As indicated by reports, the kid sustained 60% burn injuries. Citing the COVID-19 pandemic this year, a few states had either restricted bursting crackers or had fixed specified timings to do so.
Rita Bahuguna Joshi is a Lok Sabha MP from BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Joshi had earlier served as the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee for a very long time of 5 years i.e. 2007 to 2012. Joshi left Congress party to hold the saffron flag of BJP in 2016.
