A worrisome news came to light on Thursday, October 15, from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal after a crime of gangrape and subsequent blackmailing by three accused on a minor that they befriended on now banned gaming app, PUBG, got reported to the cops.
According to police, the 14-year-old girl met the three accused on PUBG when they became friends and decided to exchange phone numbers. Upon exchanging each other’s numbers, they decided to meet.
The trio accused met the minor girl in a garden called Ashok Garden where the accused allegedly gangraped the girl and subsequently continued to blackmail her to favour their advances or face the dire consequences. They also allegedly made a video of the crime to blackmail her in the future which they did and raped her multiple times, the complaint by the victim’s family revealed.
“Three people, Fazail an AC mechanic, Farhan a painter, and Rizwan an architect, met the minor while playing PUBG online.” started the Station House Officer, Ashok Shrivastava, quoted ANI. “During the course of their friendship, they exchanged phone numbers. They met in real life in Ashok Garden in September and the three raped the minor,” added SHO Shrivastava while narrating the crime.
The accused started to blackmail the victim by calling her multiple times and after becoming a victim of the gangrape again in MP Nagar, the girl apprised her mother about the crime, police said. “After the incident, they blackmailed and contacted her two or three more times. The incident took place once again in MP Nagar. The girl later told her mother about the incident and they came to file a complaint at the police station,” the SHO was quoted as saying in the ANI report.
The police charged the accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376 (2n) (raping repeatedly), 376 (DA) (gangrape of a girl under 16 year age), 506 (criminal intimidation) and several provisions of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act. The three accused were arrested on Wednesday night and are under arrest. The three accused hailed from Rambha Nagar area and were aged between 18-19.
