The US headquartered search engine giant, Google, has expanded its job search app, Kormo App, to India. Google had launched the app first in Bangladesh in 2018 while it expanded it to Indonesia soon in 2019. Now, the company has planned to enter the Indian market to take on competitors like Naukri and Times Jobs. The app aims to acquire a substantial amount of market share in the job search sector.
The Kormo App uses its technology to comprehend the user’s profile and recommend jobs relevant to their profile. The current Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has made a substantial portion of Indian population unemployed. Hence, Google’s entry to assist the job seekers will definitely onboard a major portion of Indian working class population who are in search of a new job opportunity.
The Kormo App offers users to upgrade their skills, apply for jobs, get recommendations for jobs, upgrade career as well as create digital CV (Curriculum Vitae). To create the Digital CV, one has to enter all the required details about the individual and the app works to display the CV.
Talking about Google’s earlier experiment in India, it had brought Jobs Spot app in Google Play which gave a mini version experience of Kormo App. It has now brought Kormo App to take on the likes of Microsoft’s LinkedIn and portals like Naukri.com, Shine.com, TimesJobs.com. It is also touted to give a tough competition to classified jobs search apps like Quikrr and OLX which have separate job listing pages.
