While the world battles with Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the tech world is inventing fresh technologies almost every month to combat the impact of the lethal virus on our communication. One of such technologies is the hologram technology that is making one complete person appear virtually before the target person, in it’s real shape and appearance.
A Los Angeles based tech company has established a phone booth sized machine that can enable one to appear before the other person using hologram beams. The company, PORTL, has aimed to make this technology accessible with ease in the coming 5-6 years. As per the CEO, David Nussbaum, who is the inventor of the plug-and-play hologram machine, has said that this invention is a historical step to communicate seamlessly with another person located at a far distant place.
“For the first time in history, you can converse with an artificially intelligent hologram beamed into a human sized hologram projection machine and ask them anything, anywhere, at any time,” said Nussbaum. The dimensions of the machine is measured 7ftx5ftx2ft, equipped with white backdrop inside the phone booth sized machine which will let the user appear virtually using Artificial Intelligence and hologram projection.
The company has partnered with StoryFile to provide beamed hologram projection of historic entities who can communicate with the user and answer their questions about themselves. The device is priced at USD 60,000 (approx. INR 45 lacs), which Nussbaum anticipates to slip down over the period of 3 to 5 years.
