On June 14, 2020, the entire nation was heartbroken after the news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise broke on the internet. Since the star was found hanging by a ceiling fan in his Mumbai based apartment, it was presumed to be a suicide, prima facie. Initially, the fans and those close to Sushant couldn’t come to terms with this. While there were only little unsupported speculations of his death not being a suicide then, there are countless allegations and strong enough unanswered questions to support those allegations. It has been more than a month since the incident took place and the nation has still not come to peace with the fact that the star is, indeed, no more or has committed suicide.
Right after his death, Sushant was said to have been in depression and extreme problems relating to his acting career, to justify his step of taking his own life. From KJo to SRK, Sushant’s fans spared no one. While Karan was reviled for bullying outsiders in the industry and torturing them so much that they would rather end their life, SRK was called out for being narcissistic when he tweeted, “He loved me so much, I will miss him so much.” while addressing Sushant’s death.
Girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, who only confirmed her relationship with the star days after his death, was also attacked aggressively over the internet, and doubtedly, for all the right reasons. The case, initially, was heading towards nepotism and its side-effects, but with time, the case has been making some shocking revelations.
Recently, a case was filed against Rhea Chakraborty, for driving Sushant towards taking the bold step of suicide. Sushant’s father, K K Singh, filed a First Information Report (FIR), alleging that she had blocked his contact to his son and had caused him to end his life. The FIR was filed in Rajiv Nagar Police Station, Patna, post which a team of Bihar Police had arrived in Mumbai to probe the matter. The Mumbai police is alleged to be adamant on proving it was a suicide while Bihar police is dedicated to prove it was not.
Not only the charges of mental harassment but Rhea was also charged with illegally transferring money from the actor’s Bank Account. Rhea Chakraborty broke her silence on all the allegations on Friday, July 31, in a small video clip, saying, “Even though a lot of horrible things have been said against me in the electronic media, I refrain from commenting on them as advised by my lawyer since the matter is subjudice. Satyamev Jayate. Truth shall prevail.” The actress, in her petition to Supreme Court, appealed to keep the investigation of the case in the hands of Mumbai police and not Bihar police.
In a latest astonishing development, Patna’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Vinay Tiwari, who is leading investigation in Sushant’s mysterious death case, was forcibly quarantined by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) until August 15, after arriving in Mumbai on August 2. The officer was not offered any safety assistance upon his arrival and was allegedly treated poorly by the Mumbai police.
It is very hard to believe that someone who preached to people to restrain from committing suicide would choose that manner to end his own life. The Bihar police strongly believe that there is more to this suicide story than meets the eye and promise to investigate all angles of the case. The Mumbai police, on the other hand, is being accused of sliding the matter under the mat.
The Bihar government is said to have rolled up it’s sleeve in solving the mysterious death of Sushant as Sushant’s first cousin, Neeraj Singh Babloo, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), is also said to be following the case, which is affirmed by a lot of sources.
In Mumbai police’s defence, Param Bir Singh, Mumbai Commissioner of Police (CP) said, “Till now statements of 56 people have been recorded, all angles are being investigated be it a professional rivalry, financial transactions or health.”, quoted ANI. The Bihar police have recorded a total of 10 statements from people close to Sushant and the case. What started as a father seeking justice for his only son’s alleged murder, turned into a conflict between authorities of justice of two states. As Mumbai police is constantly being blamed for their poor investigation of the case, Mumbai Police commissioner says, “There is no question of non-cooperation, we are legally examining whether they (Bihar police) have jurisdiction or not in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Still, if they’ve got jurisdiction then they should prove it.”, on being called Non-cooperative towards Bihar Police.
The Mumbai police is trying hard to lay low but with BJP leader, in BMC, Vinod Mishra accusing Maharashtra Government of using BMC as a shield to cover its attempt of discarding the case and pressurising South Municipal Ward Officer to personally go and stamp isolation on Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Vinay Tiwari, Mumbai Police is losing support, at least of the public. Surprisingly, Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh, convincingly states that, “Mumbai police probing actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in a very professional manner.”
…the offence is committed. I condemn the demand for the @itsSSR case to be handed to #CBI.
The case is now being politcised for political gains. #MaharashtraPolice is inquiring into the case professionally & are competent in digging out the truth, leaving no stone unturned!

Bihar assembly discussed the actor’s death and came to a multi-party understanding of demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. The Bihar police tagged Rhea ‘missing’ for the past few days when the lookout circular against the actress was received. “Rhea Chakraborty’s statement has been recorded by Mumbai Police. She has cooperated with Police. Till today no notice/summon has been received by her from Bihar Police & they’ve no jurisdiction to investigate.” said Satish Maneshinde, the actress’s lawyer.
Mumbai Police Chief, Param Bir Singh, confirms that no party was held at the late actor’s residence one day prior to his death, like the news had been surfacing from the start. Instead, hours before his death, the actor’s search history showed that the actor had been searching for himself and ways of dying a painless death, stated CP Singh. Sushant has also been searching his ex-manager, who had committed suicide on June 8, added Singh. Considering that the actor was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, his actions make sense, Singh stated while making a guess.
“It has come to surface that he had bipolar disorder, he was undergoing treatment and taking medicines for it. What circumstances led to his death is the subject of our investigation,” Param Bir Singh told the media. “All angles are being investigated, be it professional rivalry, financial transactions or health. We have taken his laptop and phone as technical evidence, we will look into everything,” said CP, Mumbai assuring that the Mumbai police will try its best to solve the mystery in Sushant Singh Rajput’s sudden death.
