In the past 4 months, India has witnessed almost everything during the nation-wide lockdown. So, nothing seems impossible or shocking anymore. Unbelievably, a 10-year-old boy stole 10 lakhs from a bank in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district in just 30 seconds. As much as the possibility of it sounds impossible, it really did happen. At a peak hour, the boy entered a bank in Jawad area of MP’s Neemuch district and left with cash worth 10 lakhs without anyone noticing until the alarm at the exit went off, in 30 seconds.
It was reported that the boy entered the bank swiftly and walked towards a cashier’s cubicle. The boy was dressed shabby and was seen entering the bank around 11am. The boy was completely unseen by the people around the cubicle and in the bank. Even the customers standing in a queue in front of that very same cubicle the boy was at, couldn’t make out if something was fishy.
The boy was short and therefore hid well behind the cubicle and was covered. Not only did the people around couldn’t see him but even the cameras couldn’t capture much of his figure. The CCTV footage also shows the boy dumping bundles of cash in a bag. The boy is then confidently seen walking towards the exit and only then does the alarm go off and the guards are notified of something being wrong who chased him.
From the CCTV footage, the police also figured that the little boy was directed by a man who looked in his 20s and had been lingering around the bank for about 30 minutes before the incident took place. The man was seen signalling something to the boy, who was then standing outside, as soon as the cashier at that counter left to go to another room, followed by the boy entering, dumping some notes that were already on the counter in a bag, and leaving.
“The minor was short, so people standing in front of the cash counter couldn’t see him stealing the money.” Neemuch SP, Manoj Rai Singh stated. The in-charge of the police station around said, “Several suspects have been detained. Some people who have roadside stalls in the area have been called in for questioning. The private security guard is also being interrogated.” The CCTV footage of the cameras outside the bank showed that the man and the boy ran in different directions.
The police suspect it as a gang theft wherein the gang studied the bank and planned the robbery and sent the little boy to do the final dirty work. These gangs are said to train kids they pick up from places. Their communication and appearance is just that of a normal person because they are trained so well. These kids are occasionally seen robbing women’s bags at weddings and on being caught, they are easily released after serving a small amount of punishment at the juvenile centres. These minors are kept an eye on and used by the gang. The gang keeps a tab on their work and also repeatedly brings them more opportunities.
