The 3rd phase of nationwide lockdown due to Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is expiring on Sunday, May 17. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is to release the fourth phase of nationwide lockdown on Sunday itself. As per speculations, the MHA plans to give some leniency during the lockdown 4.0 while allowing states to decide on the extent of such leniency in line with the former’s guidelines.
The Lockdown 4.0 guidelines are to be released by Amit Shah led MHA shortly. The aim of this lockdown will be on focusing at economy revival in the green zones where the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases have drastically reduced. However, those containment zones and Red zones will be kept under several restrictions to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The nationwide lockdown was first declared on March 24 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 21-days. The whole nation had come on standstill except the essential services, while Disaster Management Act, 2005 was invoked across the nation. The number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in India started snarling, until Tablighi Jamaat crisis took place.
The number which was snarling with a tortoise speed, surged incidentally and the whole nation admonished the Tablighi Jamaat chief, Mohammad Saad, for the increased cases. The Tablighi Jamaat supremo is still away from police’s nab.
The first phase of nationwide lockdown expired on April 14 when PM Modi announced the first extension of the nationwide lockdown till May 3 and it was termed as Lockdown 2.0. The number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 didn’t show the declining curve during this phase. Maharashtra was the most affected state due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The Lockdown 2.0 again got extended on May 3 by the MHA till May 17, hinting at no major leniency in the lockdown norms. The migrant workers crisis was the major troublesome knot for the central and state governments during Lockdown 3.0. The Lockdown 3.0 is set to expire on May 17, and in the Lockdown 4.0, the central government is said to provide relief to those zones which have either minimum active cases or no cases at all.
