Google Duo to support Group Video Calling through Google Chrome – Report

The group video calling is in wide use currently due to lockdown in several countries. The group video calling feature is widely used for online lectures, office meetings for those working from home, family gatherings, etc. The Google Duo will take on the likes of Zoom app. Though, Google currently has Google Meeting option for group video call meetings for 100 persons at a time.

The US headquartered tech giant, Google, is soon implementing group video call feature in Google Duo application, through it’s proprietary browser, Google Chrome. Currently, group video calling feature in Google Duo is only available on smartphones through its app installation and not through browser.

The company is, reportedly, bringing the group video calling feature in Duo through Chrome browser. Which means, if a user wants to make a video call using Duo, then all he will have to do is hit to Google Duo website through Chrome browser and make a group video call. The feature is likely to roll out in coming weeks, reported Google.

The Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has made several Multi-National Companies (MNCs) to switch to work from home arrangement due to lockdown. In India, due to nationwide lockdown, companies have asked their employees to work from home and attend group meetings using Group video calling.

Zoom app has become a preferred application for group video calling, however, due to security issues, people are now looking for a safer options. Google Meeting has arisen as an option for a safe and secure group video calling. Now, Google seems to bring Google Duo option for laptop users too who do not wish to install Google Duo application.
