The Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry, on Tuesday, May 5, released the date of examination of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Indian Institute of Technology – Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) amid the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) lockdown across the nation. The Union HRD minister, Ramesh Pokhyriyal, announced the dates for the two prominent and significant entrance examinations in the country.

The NEET for the medical aspirants while IIT-JEE for the engineering aspirants are the two important examinations in the country.
While revealing the dates for these two important entrance examinations, Pokhriyal announced that the NEET will be held on July 26.

while the IIT-JEE (Main) will be held on July 18, 20, 21, 22 & 23. The minister, however, did not reveal the date for IIT-JEE (Advanced) except that it will be held in August 2020. He said that the date for the IIT-JEE (Advanced) will be released soon.

The HRD Minister also clarified that there will be no fee hikes for IITs, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs) for the current academic year 2020 – 2021.

The Union HRD minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal, was in an online interaction with students from across the nation, during which he announced the dates for the examinations. He also added, while addressing the students, that the dates for Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for 10th & 12th std. will be declared soon.
NEET is a national level entrance examinations conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for the medical aspirants. The IIT-JEE is also a national level entrance examinations, however, this is for the engineering aspirants to reserve a seat in top IITs in the country. The examinations have got delayed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the NEET was conducted on May 5 last year while the IIT-JEE (Main & Advanced) were conducted in April last year.
