The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), on Saturday, April 25, provided certain leniency in keeping the shops open in the state and Union Territories (UTs) facing lockdown due to the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The statement issued by MHA delineated that standalone shops in residential complexes are allowed to open but in public places like markets and shopping malls are not allowed to open.
“In urban areas, all standalone shops, neighborhood shops and shops in residential complexes are allowed to open,” announced MHA in it’s statement on Saturday. However, it clarified, “shops in markets, market complexes and shopping malls are not allowed to open,” in it’s statement.
The MHA, with regards to the rural areas, stated that shops which are not situated in the malls are allowed to open and operational. It further stated that this leniency is not applicable in the localities/areas which are declared as containment zones by the respective States/UTs.
