The BBK Electronics subsidiary brand, OnePlus, unveiled the most awaited flagship smartphones, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, in a live streaming launch event on Tuesday, April 14. The specifications, more or less, remained similar to what was leaked or rumoured about in the past. With Snapdragon 865 SoC, both the high-end smartphones are 5G-enabled.

The OnePlus 8 and Pro version come with 8GB/12GB RAM + 128GB/256GB internal storage capacity, the price of which differ based on the variant one chooses.
The OnePlus 8 with 8GB RAM & 128GB internal storage is priced USD 699 (approx. INR 53,141) while the variant with 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage is set at USD 799 (approx. INR 60,743). On the other hand, the OnePlus 8 Pro with 8GB RAM & 128GB internal storage is set at USD 899 (approx. INR 68,346) while the one with 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage is priced USD 999 (approx. INR 75,948).
The color variants for OnePlus 8 include Onyx Black, Glacial Green and Interstellar Glow. The color variants for OnePlus 8 Pro are Onyx Black, Glacial Green and Ultramarine Blue.
The company will begin the open sale from April 29 while in Europe, the open sale will begin from April 21. The pre-order in Europe has already begun.

The OnePlus 8 sports a 6.55-inch QHD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate while the Pro version sports a 6.78-inch display with higher QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. On the optics front, the smaller handset sports a quad camera at the rear with 48-megapixel primary sensor and dual-LED flash. The optics engineering in OnePlus 8 Pro include the 48-megapixel primary IMX689 sensor, 48-megapixel secondary ultra-wide angle lens, 8-megapixel tertiary Hybrid Zoom Camera while the fourth lens as 5-megapixel color filter lens.
Both the handsets have a 16-megapixel selfie camera with advance camera features.
Under the hood, both the smartphones are powered by a Snapdragon 865 SoC with 8GB/12GB RAM + 128GB/256GB internal storage capacity. The smartphones have the feature to switch between 5G and non-5G network as claimed by the company in it’s revelation. In terms of the battery backup, the smaller handset packs a 4,300mAh battery while the Pro version packs a battery with 4,510mAh power.
