Xiaomi files Patent for a Smartphone Design with Waterfall Display

The patent design has become a part of Global Design Database of World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO). The patent design was first reported by the Dutch tech site, LetsGoDigital. The phone looks vibrant with trendy and classic waterfall display design.

The Chinese smartphone brand, Xiaomi, has filed a patent application of a smartphone design with a better waterfall display design. The trending waterfall display is a newly introduced concept of display design with more than 60% covering at the edges. The displays are curved at the edges in such a way that it looks like an overflowing fluid.

The patent got published on April 3 which was filed in September 2019 in China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).

As per reports, the Chinese smartphone design will also enclose an under-display camera as there are no cut-outs seen for the camera at the front. The under-display camera looks similar to the under-display fingerprint scanner which doesn’t require a separate cut-out for the camera. The back panel of the patent design also seem to debut the under-display camera as there is no cut-out for the camera at the back panel too.

The camera details, though, haven’t been revealed and no specifications of the camera are yet known. It will be interesting to see if Xiaomi will show this design the light of the day as many such patent remain a patent and do not come out as the final version. Hence, it will be interesting to watch out for this design if Xiaomi plans to incorporate it in it’s upcoming smartphone.
