HMD Global, the official licensee of the Nokia brand smartphones, may soon launch the Nokia C2 with the 4G network compatibility, a report by NokiaPowerUser stated. The smartphone maker had launched the entry level Nokia C1 last year without the 4G network support. However, the news is now surfacing online that the Finnish company is introducing the 4G network compatibility in the successor of the Nokia C1.
HMD Global could manage to keep the dual SIM enabled Nokia C1 as the entry level smartphone by launching it without the 4G network compatibility. The smartphone features the UNISOC processor and the news confirms that even the Nokia C2 will be powered by the same UNISOC processor.
It is said to keep the specs and features intact in the upcoming smartphone except the introduction of the 4G support. The Nokia C2 is said to be more expensive than its predecessor due to the introduction of the 4G network. The price of the smartphone is yet to be known, though.
The Nokia C2 got certified in Thailand and Malaysia off-lately while it was expected to launch in the MWC 2020 in February this year in Barcelona. However, the Finnish tech brand cancelled it’s participation to the mega tech show of the year due to the CoronaVirus outbreak. Many other brands like MediaTek, Samsung, and others also pulled off their participation from the mega tech show gradually. Subsequently, GSMA, the organiser of the MWC 2020 pulled the plug off and cancelled the event citing Corona Virus Outbreak as the reason.
HMD Global is now speculated to hold a separate event to launch the products it had lined up for a launch in the pre-MWC 2020 launch event. Though, the exact date is yet to be unveiled for us. The product list of this launch event may include Nokia 8.2, Nokia 4.3, Nokia 1.3 and a feature phone Nokia 400.
