The BBK Electronics subsidiary, Oppo, branded upcoming flagship smartphone, OnePlus 8 Pro, is one of those three smartphones which are lined up for a launch this year. The exact date of the launch is unknown but it may launch sooner than when the OnePlus 7 Pro launched last year. The leaked design and some insights have been surfacing online to keep the zeal up for the flagship smartphone.
The latest image render has surfaced online showing the live look of the handset. The image shows the back panel of the handset gripped in a human hand. The image also shows the location Shenzhen, which hints at the handset was clicked at Shenzhen. By the way, Shenzhen in China, is OnePlus’ headquarter.
The back panel of the OnePlus 8 Pro shows three lens camera aligned vertically in the middle portion of the handset’s top end. The three vertically aligned sensors also show the positioning of an LED flash below the camera bump. A close look at the image shows a surprising fourth camera sensor just beside the camera bump. This fourth camera sensor is speculated to be a 3D ToF camera sensor, while there is a slit visible below this fourth camera sensor.
Talking about the camera setup in it’s predecessors like the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro, it housed the similar three vertically aligned sensors. This camera module didn’t show the presence of the fourth sensor and the slit. Hence, it is visibly evident that OnePlus is upgrading the rear camera module in the OnePlus 8 Pro to give a better photography experience to the users.
Like I mentioned earlier, the live image shows only the back panel, hence, I am unable to find out what the front panel resembles to. As per an earlier leaked report, the OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a punch-hole camera at the top left corner of the display to give extra display coverage. The report also suggested that the front display will have curved edges and the sharp finish to give it a premium look.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 8 Pro is reported to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 SoC, which features the Snapdragon X55 modem to enable the 5G network support. The report also suggested that the flagship handset will feature the wireless charging support.
