The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has planned to step further to win over the hearts of the Hindu pilgrims and devotees by deciding to connect 108 religious sites in Varanasi via one route only. If the project comes into effect and succeeds, a Hindu devotee or a tourist in Varanasi will be able to pay visit to 108 holy Hindu religious sites by following a single route.
“The government (Uttar Pradesh) will build a holy path in Varanasi. The path will be connected to around 108 religious places in the city,” said Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, Culture and Tourist Minister of Uttar Pradesh, quoted news agency ANI.
Tiwari is also Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from UP’s Varanasi (South). The holy path is said to include the famous Hindu temple of Varanasi, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, situated at the bank of the holy river, Ganga. Kashi is the ancient name of Varanasi.
Apart from Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the other famous religious sites which will be a part of this holy path include Navbhauri, Navdurga, Manas Jyotirlinga, etc. The Culture and Tourist Minister said that the tourists who come to Varanasi for religious procession will be benefitted by this move.
“There are many who come to Varanasi only for the purpose of visiting various temples. For them, this holy path will make it convenient to visit prominent places of religious interest,” Tiwari was quoted as saying by Outlook India.
