The whole nation seems to be bearing the brunt of the anger of the protesters agitating against the recently enacted Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), 2019. The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, has already expressed that there could be some consideration over provisions of the act, however, the government isn’t contemplating over taking back the CAA, 2019. Not just the ordinary people, majority of which include Muslim agitators, Bollywood celebs have also come forward to mark their agreement/disagreement over the CAA crisis.

Bollywood celebrities like Vicky Kaushal, Rajkumar Rao, Ayushman Khurana, etc. came forward to make statements on the ongoing CAA protest. The Bollywood seems to have split on the CAA protest, as some are supporting the act while some are rejecting the act passed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led central government.

Here is a list of celebrities whose outspoken comments have taken over the Twitter-

The ‘URI: The Surgical Strike’ actor, Vicky Kaushal, opposed the way violence is chosen by masses to protest and reminded of everyone’s right to peacefully protest. “What is happening is not okay. The way it’s happening is not okay. People have every right to peacefully voice their opinion. This violence and disruption is both saddening and concerning as a fellow citizen. In no circumstance, must our faith in democracy be shaken.” tweeted Vicky Kaushal on the ongoing CAA protest.

‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ director, Anurag Kashyap, had some bitter comments on the government’s stand. He wrote, “This has gone too far.. can’t stay silent any longer. This government is clearly fascist.. and it makes me angry to see voices that can actually make a difference stay quiet”. Kashyap is considered as a critic to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government. Kashyap has always been a little upset with PM Modi & HM Amit Shah led government policies.

‘Stree’ star, Rajkumar Rao, also had a similar view on the CAA crisis. “I strongly condemn the violence that the police have shown in dealing with the students. In a democracy, the citizens have the right to peacefully protest. I also condemn any kind of act of destruction of the public properties. Violence is not the solution for anything!” tweeted Rao. Though here, Rajkumar Rao has mentioned about the misconduct by the protesting masses of causing destruction to public properties. He advised people to abstain from taking law in their hands and also from adopting violence.

The social-drama hero, Ayushmann Khurrana, had a kind of diplomatic say on the issue. He stated, “Dear countrymen, this is the land of Gandhi. Ahimsa is and should be the tool to express. Have faith in democracy”. The ‘villain’ of the Bollywood hit ‘Marjaavan’, Riteish Deshmukh, shared the same opinion. “Deeply disturbed about what the students went through and I strongly condemn this. All of us have the right to protest and exercise our fundamental freedom of expression. However, protests also cannot turn violent and lead to destruction of public property. That simply is counterproductive”.

We love this country; THIS IS OUR COUNTRY and no one can tell us we don’t belong. NO ONE.???? To hope. Jai Hind.” tweeted Chadha to make a remark on the CAA protest.

Very few from the film fraternity had a positive and supportive stand towards the government’s decision of CAA. A few of them are:

Kangana Ranaut’s sister, Rangoli Chandel, who is one of the most active and controversial persons on social media. She purportedly showed her support for the CAA, 2019 by retweeting PM Modi’s tweet. PM Modi had tweeted “The Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 was passed by both Houses of Parliament with overwhelming support. Large number of political parties and MPs supported its passage. This Act illustrates India’s centuries old culture of acceptance, harmony, compassion and brotherhood.”

Also, famous artist Adnan Sami had a supporting response too. He stated, “The CAB Bill is for religions that are being persecuted in ‘Theocratic States’. Muslims are NOT persecuted for their religion in Pakistan, Afghanistan or Bangladesh because they are in majority over there. Muslims CAN still apply for Indian citizenship like before. All are welcome through the legal ‘Front Door’!” Sami touched and made a huge impact on his followers and fans as he has come from Pakistan and settled in India.

Film director, Ashoke Pandit, had a positive stand on CAA, 2019 as well. “#ISupportDelhiPolice @anuragkashyap72 @MaheshNBhatt @anubhavsinha @RajkummarRao @humasqureshi #SwaraBhasker @BajpayeeManoj @RichaChadha & many more like these friends of ours have supplied dummies” tweeted Pandit.

The overall situation in the country has become a chaos from last few days. Looking at it from both the point of views, it is pretty evident that violence is never the solution, also nothing happens without a reason and every action has a counter reaction. It is important here to mention that many of the protesters do not have any knowledge about the details of the CAA, 2019. Many of the agitating people have been trolled on social media for their lack of knowledge about the act they are protesting so aggressively. Looking into the matter in-depth or studying the act, nothing can be drawn as a solid proof for the violence that has been going around. We should have faith in the government, the country we live in and in our democracy. Jai Hind.
