Congress MLA Naseem Khan Demonstrates Strength while Submitting his Nomination for Assembly Election, Hopes for 5th Consecutive Victory

The Congress party's eminent MLA and the Maharashtra's ex-minister, Khan, has been considered as the first choice of the people of Chandivali constituency due to his work. The followers of Naseem Khan have coined numerous slogans for the victory of their loved Congress party leader. The 4 time Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Mumbai’s Chandivali Vidhan Sabha constituency, Mohammed Arif (Naseem) Khan, on October 03, submitted his nomination for the upcoming Assembly Election in Maharashtra. Khan was seen with a flood of his followers on the streets of Kurla till Vidyavihar where he finally inked his nomination. The followers of Naseem Khan were seen sloganeering “Naseem Bhai aage badho, hum tumhare Saath hain, (move ahead Naseem Khan, we are with you),”. Meanwhile, Khan had onboarded a vehicle without a rooftop to greet the people of his constituency from atop. Khan is currently the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Lower House of Maharashtra and was the cabinet minister of the state during the Congress party government in the state between 2009 – 2014. He is, currently, also the Vice President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC). Khan has been representing as the MLA from Chandivali constituency since 2009, prior to which he was representing the Kurla Vidhan Sabha constituency for 2 consecutive terms. Khan is considered as a stronghold in the Chandivali constituency and is considered a tough incumbent to be dethroned by any of his opponents.

Affirming on his brother’s victory in the upcoming election, his brother and a renowned Mumbai Congress party leader, Sharif Khan, counted innumerous facilities made available by Naseem Khan for the people of Chandivali during his tenure as MLA, in a recent meeting with Ajanta News. Sharif Khan is considered as a powerful youth icon in Chandivali Vidhan Sabha constituency and is currently bolstering his party workers to mark the 5th consecutive victory for his brother.

The 2019 assembly election from Chandivali will be a nail-biting fight as the contenders are claiming to be the first choice of the people of Chandivali. Naseem Khan will be taken on by his opponent and 5 times corporator from Kurla’s Kajupada locality, Dilip Lande. Dilip Lande has got the ticket from the saffron party Shiv Sena to contest the Maharashtra assembly election 2019 from Chandivali. Lande was considered as a strong loyalist of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief, Raj Thackeray, until October 2017 when he left the party to join Shiv Sena along with other 5 MNS corporators.

Lande was recently in news for being allegedly dismissed from the post of Head of Improvements Committee of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) six months back. While speaking to Ajanta News, Lande had refuted the dismissal news but admitted that he vacated the seat after completing the tenure of 1 year. When asked to Naseem Khan over the issue, Khan had alleged that Lande was allegedly involved in multiple scams during his tenure as Head of Improvements Committee of BMC.

The Maharashtra state is scheduled to go for assembly election on October 21, wherein the result will be declared on October 24. It will be interesting to find out who marks the victory in the state, especially, in the most eyed constituency of Chandivali.
