As the election inches closer, attacks on political rivals and their leaders ascend drastically. With the revelation of dates of election in Maharashtra and Haryana, political leaders have started attacking each other to gain the political mileage. The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on September 28, Saturday made a veiling attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and staunch Hindu wing, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He said that he would accept PM Modi as a “true Gandhian” if BJP and the RSS start raising the “Nathuram Godse murdabad (Down with Godse)” slogans publicly.
While addressing a press conference on Saturday, the 58-year old Congress party CM made this sharp attack on the two largest membered organisations of the nation. “The day BJP, RSS start raising slogan ‘Godse murdabad’. I will accept that they value Mahatma Gandhi. I will accept Modi ji has become true Gandhian when action is taken against those from the RSS and the VHP who keep Godse’s idols in their homes,” Baghel added.
Reportedly, a two-day special session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly will be held to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Indian freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi, an official said on Saturday. Several schemes too would be launched on October 2 to commemorate the event. “A two-day special session of the Legislative Assembly will be convened from October 2,” informed a government spokesperson.
An exhibition of memorabilia related to Gandhi’s tour of Chhattisgarh (then part of the Central Provinces) and his political and social campaigns will be held in the assembly premises during the session, he said. Few reports also suggest that the government will also launch Haat-Bazaar Clinic Scheme for public healthcare, Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan to tackle malnutrition, Chief Minister’s Urban Slum Health Scheme and Universal Public Distribution System on October 2.
Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, however, backlashed at Congress party and Chattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel for his unacceptable comment on BJP & RSS. “Congress leaders have mental bankruptcy due to which they make comments like that,” he said this while talking to the news agency, ANI. “If a senior leader of the Congress party is talking like that then one can guess what junior leaders must be talking,” he added.
Meanwhile, while retaliating on the statement of the Congress party CM Bhupesh Baghel, BJP spokesperson Sanjay Srivastava accused the Congress party of doing politics in the name of Gandhi. He also said that people in the Congress party do not raise the slogan of Mahatma Gandhi but of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
“There was never any sense of dedication in the Congress. What to say, what not, Congress cannot decide this,” he said. For this year’s Gandhi Jayanti, the Congress government is going to launch four major schemes. Apart from this, on October 2nd and 3rd, the state government will also hold a special session of the assembly.
Ajanta News tried contacting several spokespersons of BJP and RSS for their reaction but they were not reachable. We are still trying to get in touch with them and as soon as we hear from them we will update the article.
