Carbohydrates –

one slice of your pizza contains around 34g of carbs including sugar and fiber.

Fats –

total fat content in a slice of Pizza is 10g which includes saturated fats and cholesterol. The content of cholesterol in a Pizza varies with toppings, sauce and cheese used.

Proteins –

a Pizza slice contains 12g of proteins. The cheese in pizza is the complete source of all the protein. Along with cheese, other toppings like chicken, pepperoni and red meat also contain good amount of protein in it.

Pizza basically is made up of bread, tomato sauce, cheese and toppings. Among all the ingredients used in a Pizza, cheese is the only healthy item used in a vegetarian Pizza and Chicken as well in a non-vegetarian, that too if eaten in moderation. Tomatoes are healthy if taken for toppings whereas tomato sauce contains sodium, sugar and other preservatives making it a bit not good for our health.

Usually the nutrition and calories in a Pizza depend upon the toppings, crust, sauce and size of the Pizza slice.

Starting from the base, Pizza is usually made of wheat flour, all purpose flour – serving size of 1 base (140 g) contains around 421 calories, 86.8g of carbohydrates and 12.6g of protein. Whereas, a regular crust Pizza contains an average of around 30 grams of carbs in it.

Total fat – 10g

Cholesterol – 17mg

Carbohydrates – 33mg

Although, this Italian savoury has some amazing taste and nutrition, it has some consequence at our health as well. The toppings of a Pizza slice changes your intake of nutrients, thus it is recommended to take the right amount of carbs (should form 45-65% of total calorie intake) and fats. Certain Pizzas are really unhealthy for our body whereas other less processed types can be nutritious. Frozen and fast food Pizza contains unhealthy fats and colouring as preservative which are not good for our well being.
