The 66-year old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prominent leader and former External Affairs Minister (EAM), Sushma Swaraj, died in Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) hospital due to cardiac arrest. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted confirming the news. “A glorious chapter in Indian politics comes to an end. India grieves the demise of a remarkable leader who devoted her life to public service and bettering lives of the poor. Sushma Swaraj Ji was one of her kind, who was a source of inspiration for crores of people.” tweeted PM Modi.

BJP leaders like JP Nadda, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu, and many other have arrived in the AIIMS hospital to see Sushma’s mortal remains.

August 7, 4.43pm: Former EAM Sushma Swaraj cremated at Lodhi crematorium with state honour. Prominent BJP leaders and other national dignitaries present in the crematorium during the cremation, reported ANI.

August 7, 3.20pm: BJP leaders like JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal, etc. give shoulder to the mortal remains of the former EAM Sushma Swaraj while on the way to Lodhi crematorium in Delhi.

August 7, 02.40pm: PM Narendra Modi pays last respect to the mortal remains of Sushma Swaraj. United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chief Sonia Gandhi has also paid the last respect to the mortal remains of Sushma Swaraj.

August 7, 10:40am: A two day state mourning announced by the Delhi government on the sad and sudden demise of former EAM Sushma Swaraj on August 6.

August 7, 10.00am: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and founding member and former Member of Parliament (MP) LalKrishna Advani have paid last respect to Sushma Swaraj’s mortal remains at her residence, reported ANI.

August 7, 9.50am: BJP Leaders like Vice-president of India Venkaiah Naidu, BJP working committee president JP Nadda, Hema Malini, etc. have visited the residence of former EAM Sushma Swaraj to pay last respects to her mortal remains.

August 7, 12.30am: Swaraj’s mortal remains have been taken to her residence in Delhi via Ambulance. Her mortal remains has reached her residence, confirmed TV reports.
