In another tweet, he said that he would send his resignation letter to Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh. After making his resignation public, Sidhu had to face the heat of tweeple. People felt that Sidhu should have been handed over his resignation to Captain Amarinder instead of Rahul Gandhi who himself has resigned from his post.

Amarinder Singh who was in New Delhi confirmed the news and said that Sidhu’s resignation letter has been sent to his residence in Chandigarh but he was yet to see it. Disappointed with former cricketer’s decision Capt. Amarinder Singh said, “Mr. Sidhu was given the crucial Power portfolio, which was particularly important at this time in view of the rice [paddy] season, from June to October. With many parts of the State not receiving adequate rain, the power situation is critical, requiring day to day monitoring.”
He also pointed out that he had reshuffled the portfolios of 13 out of 17 members of his cabinet after the Lok Sabha election and no one complained about it except Sidhu. The reshuffle was based on the performance of the members and Sidhu should have accepted his new portfolio instead of shunning the work in the middle.
Capt. Amarinder and Sidhu have been loggerheads since last year when Sidhu made a controversial appearance in Imran Khan’s Prime Ministerial swearing in ceremony where he hugged Pakistan’s Army Chief. The rift further widened when Sidhu accused Captain of not giving Chandigarh Lok Sabha ticket to his wife Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu.
