The Rampur police is being applauded for such a difficult task they have concluded. Meanwhile, the attraction of the whole mission is the SSP of Rampur, Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma. He is well known as the “Singham” of Uttar Pradesh by many locals, media and police officers too. Ajanta News has exclusively spoken to the “Singham” of UP after the encounter news broke.
Here is the full fledged interview of SSP Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma:
Our Question: The whole nation is talking about your valour and courage, what had happened that day and how did you apprehend this criminal?
IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma: This is not for the first time that we have faced such a situation. We had been through this situation quite a lot number of time. There had been an incident where we had lost one of our team mates and we got our teammate shot with ‘C’ fire arms also in one incident..so we’ve faced this situation earlier also and in this particular incident, the body was recovered on June 22 afternoon. Then we zeroed into the criminals who could be the probable accused. Then at the night of June 22, we were trying to nab him and he fired at the police team and then in the exchange of the fire, he got injured.
Our Question: Everyone is tagging you as UP’s “Singham”, how do you feel on being conferred with this title?
IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma: If your performance is acknowledged, your work is acknowledged, definitely, you feel good and the same is with me. But definitely it gives me more inspiration and motivation to do better in future.
I am most satisfied with this thinking that we could apprehend the criminal and we could work out the case and the encounter. Thing is situational, we go with the mindset of arresting the accused and according to the situation, we have to use the force. And in this particular incident because of the fire exchange, he got injured and now our main target is to get him punished from the court. We are trying our best to get him convicted.
Our Question: What is your message for all the officers who work in the police department?
IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma: The consistency of the hard work is necessary and we are in such a position and in such a service because in our three letter abbreviation of IPS, the third letter is ‘S’ which stands for service so I think we need to materialize it. We need to make it substantial with our performance.
Our question: Is any medal or award announced for you?
IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma: I have received commendation list by Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh and there are multiple appreciation letters issued by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) as well as I was honoured by honourable Chief Minister. Around 12 awards are achieved by me.
Our Question: What drives you to take such risks at work?
IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma: There are two words “Jasba” and “Junoon”, I feel these two are sufficient to answer this question.
Our Question: What do you think must be the treatment/punishment to such criminals who rape and murder innocent girls?
IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma: This is extremely unfortunate that there are such humans who don’t treat the children or other person as human and they just do all the inhuman treatment with them as happened in this case. So I feel we have strong laws and we need to get these criminals convicted as soon as possible. We need to work on our constitutional side and that we are doing also.
Our Question: What will be your action plan to bring these criminals to justice?
IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma: We are charting out those criminals that have been involved in such heneious crimes and we’ll make our prosecution side stronger. We’ll get the witnesses give their evidences in the court and we’ll try to ensure that they get convicted and punished by the court.
Our Question: What’s your message for criminals who may want to take a police officer lightly?
IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma: When I was posted in Shamli and we were taking very strict action against the criminals then there have been multiple incidence where they used to hold the placards and roam around in the city that they won’t commit any crime further so we’ll try to ensure that the criminals are definitely scared of law and they are scared of committing any crime and harming any person in the society.
