Delhi Man stabbed to Death for Protesting Attempt of Molestation of his Daughter, NCW takes Suo Motu Cognizance

The 19-year old son, who was, reportedly, badly injured in the incident is currently battling for his life in a hospital, reported ANI. The alleged murder of the 51-year old victim was concluded by his neighbour and his family, and they have a criminal record, victim's brother asserted, as per media reports.

In a shocking incident in West Delhi on Sunday, a 51-year old father was stabbed to death and his son critically injured for, allegedly, opposing the attempt of molestation of his daughter. The 19-year old son, who was, reportedly, badly injured in the incident is currently battling for his life in a hospital, reported ANI. The alleged murder of the 51-year old victim was concluded by his neighbour and his family, and they have a criminal record, victim’s brother asserted, as per media reports.

“My brother and his daughter were returning from the hospital. The lane was almost blocked by 4-5 men. When he honked at them, they made lewd remarks and tried to molest her,” said Tapesh Tyagi, victim’s brother. “After dropping her when he went back to them, they attacked him. Their families helped them in the attack. They also attacked my brother’s son. Attackers also have a criminal record,” narrated Tyagi, quoted India Today report.

The deceased is identified as Dhruv Raj Tyagi, who lived in West Delhi’s Moti Nagar with his family had a business to run his family. As per Dhruv’s daughter, one of the accused was drunk and his family encouraged to carry out violence against her father using a knife. “There are so many gangs in this area where they carry out all sort of misdeeds. Even the person who stabbed my father was drunk that day and his family encouraged him to carry out violence by passing a knife to him,” said the daughter of the deceased, quoted ANI.

Reiterating the narrative by her uncle, the daughter of the deceased narrated the alleged inhuman act by the accused. “My father and I were returning from the hospital when a boy made lewd gestures. My father went back to complain to the boy’s family. Later, a fight broke out and my father was stabbed,” she narrated, as quoted by news agency ANI.

The police have arrested the 4 accused in the matter under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also taken suo motu cognisance of the matter and has asked Delhi police to submit the report by May 17 in the matter.
