AAP Unveils Manifesto for Lok Sabha Election 2019, Promises Full Statehood, Better Education & Other Amenities for Delhi

The ruling party of Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has, on Thursday, released the manifesto for the on-going Lok Sabha election 2019 in Delhi. With primary focus on providing full statehood to the nation’s capital city, there were other promises made by AAP. The manifesto delineated a number of concerns of Delhi that the party wishes to address if voted in power.

The manifesto is titled “Lekar Rahenge Poorna Rajya (we will take full statehood)” and was released in the presence of the party’s national convenor as well as the incumbent chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal. The party has promised improvisation in the sector of education, health, jobs, police reforms, pollution, women safety, zero corruption, etc.

The chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, gave a lengthy speech during the occasion and attacked the rival party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and alleged BJP working for Pakistan’s agenda. “Today India’s unity is under threat. BJP has an only one-point manifesto. BJP is fulfilling Pakistan’s agenda. BJP’s agenda is to divide India on the basis of caste and religion,” Kejriwal was quoted as saying by news agency, ANI.

Kejriwal also emphasized on the national capital’s struggle of 70 years in pursuing full statehood and how BJP and Congress party have failed to provide it to Delhi. “We will fulfill a 70-year old demand of the people of Delhi by granting full statehood. Both parties, BJP and Congress, have not fulfilled their promise of giving full statehood to Delhi,” Kejriwal alleged while emphasizing that Delhi wouldn’t require centre’s permission for various things.

“If Delhi attains full statehood, we will not require centre’s permission. The anti-corruption branch will be handled by the Delhi government again,” added Kejriwal, quoted news agency.
