In a fresh incident of violence by Maharashtra’s regional party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), workers, a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged in Mumbai’s Thane district. Three MNS workers were booked, on Tuesday, under several sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for assaulting a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker.
The victim of the assault is identified as Pradeep Rane, a local BJP worker, who has named three local MNS party workers for attacking him and injuring him. In the complaint, Rane narrated that he received a WhatsApp message, on Sunday, about MNS along with a photo of it’s party supremo, Raj Thackeray. He forwarded the message to some of his contacts, which eventually was learned by the three accused MNS workers.
The complaint underlines that the accused MNS workers got offended by Rane’s behaviour and decided to take him on. The three MNS workers smashed Rane even though Rane apologized and deleted the post from his mobile phone, the complaint stated. The complaint also stated that the three accused MNS workers made a video of Rane’s beating and circulated on social media. The video was also played in a local channel, the complaint read.
Taking cognizance of the reported offence, Thane police filed an FIR under several sections of the IPC on Tuesday. The MNS party assaulters were booked under Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 452 (house-trespassing after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), Section 500 (defamation) and Section 504 (intentional insult with an intent to provoke breach of peace).
The matter is under probe and investigation, however, no accused has been arrested in the matter.
