Every fish cuisine lover loves the tasty Pomfret in it’s different form. One of the form of Pomfret which is loved by millions of fish lovers, is Pomfret Onion Masala curry due to it’s spicy form. Pomfret Onion Masala curry is a thick tomato based spicy curry with smooth onion gravy.
Tasty, fleshy and tender pomfret fish with onion masala gravy is a perfect finger licking dish when eaten with rice or naan. This delicious and mouthwatering dish takes 15 minutes to be prepared and served. It is perfect as a starter in parties and at times, when you need to cook something quick and delicious, this dish is a perfect one to prepare.
To make this delicious dish, you need the following ingredients –
- White Pomfret fish – 750 gm
- 2 Big Onions (Boiled and in Paste form)
- Tomato Puree – 1 cup
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Red Chilli powder – 1 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder – 1teaspoon
- Garam Masala powder – 1teaspoon
- Whole Garam Masala – 1teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Sugar – 1 tablespoon
Preparation method –
To begin the preparation, clean the Pomfret fish and dry it with a kitchen towel. Make sure it is completely dry.
Heat the oil to deep fry the fish. Once turned brown, take out the fish, drain oil and place it on a plate.
Heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a pan and add garam masala to it. Add onion paste and fry it. Add tomato puree and mix it well.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and mix well, when the masala is ready.
Turn the heat on high and add salt and sugar as per taste. Add a cup of water, fried pomfret fish and mix well. Cover it, and allow the fish to cook for 5-10 minutes in low flame. Your pomfret onion masala is ready to be served with jeera rice, steam rice or naan.
