Before the nation cast it’s vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha poll 2019, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and it’s ally Shiv Sena, have marked their victory in Maharashtra’s Palghar district in the civic poll held on Sunday. Celebration erupted in the BJP-Shiv Sena camp when trend started getting clear of the Palghar Municipal Council Poll which was held on Sunday.
The saffron party alliance celebrated the big win after securing 21 seats out of 28 in Palghar elections, as it comes just ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. The results speak volumes about the popularity and seem to be helpful in deciding the fate of the Alliance in Maharashtra.
A total of 47,850 voters turned up to cast their vote on Sunday. Shiva Sena contested for 18 seats out of which they won 13 seats, whereas Bhartiya Janta Party grabbed 6 seats out of 8. The alliance won 2 seats unopposed. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) managed to secure 2 seats and rest of the seats were won by the independent candidates. President of Palghar Municipal Council was also won by Shiv Sena again.
The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance has celebrated the clear win in the civic poll ahead of the Lok Sabha election 2019, however, the happiness cost BJP leaving the Palghar Lok Sabha seat for the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena. BJP workers are disappointed with the party’s decision and many have resigned from their post.
The civic poll result also shows that if BJP candidate contest elections from Palghar District, they will surely have a chance to win most of the seats as they have better average. In the By-poll election which held in May 2018, BJP candidate Rajendra Gavit (ex-Congress leader) won the seat against Srinivas Chintaman Vanga, son of BJP leader Chintaman Vanga.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with Yuva Sena Chief Aaditya Thackeray addressed a rally on March 22 in Palghar. The stage was also shared by Eknath Shinde, Ravindra Chavan and candidates who were contesting in the elections. Fadnavis and Thackeray, both campaigned in Palghar for their representatives for a clear sweep. The result seem to give a big relief to both the saffron parties, and making the rival parties disturbed before the grand poll few days ahead.
