India is in a state of alarm after experiencing a heart throbbing terror attack on Thursday in Awantipora of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). The entire country is mourning for the soldiers from 15 states of the nation who were brutally killed in the terror attack, allegedly, conducted by Pakistan backed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group. Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has always been in news for various terror attack or invading attempts, however, the attack which took place on February 14, Thursday, has shaken the entire country complete.
Around 44 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans are martyred in a blast on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Latoomode, in Awantipora area of South Kashmir around 3.15 pm. A JeM suicide bomber identified as Adil Ahmed Dar rammed an explosive-laden white coloured scorpio car into the bus carrying about 39 to 44 CRPF personnel, in Pulwama district. Over 20 others are injured too. Adil Ahmed Dar was driving a vehicle carrying about 300 kgs of explosives on the wrong side of the road and hit the bus, leaving us speechless of the disastrous moment that would have followed. The bus was a part of CRPF Convoy comprising of 2,500 CRPF personnel travelling in 78 vehicles, from Jammu to Srinagar. The convoy started from Jammu at 3.30 am and was expected to reach Srinagar before sunset on Thursday. The bus which was hit belonged to 76th battalion of the force.
Condemning the terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama is despicable. I strongly condemn this dastardly attack. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs. May the injured recover quickly”, via his tweet on Thursday.
There were several other leaders who expressed their grief via twitter. “I’m deeply disturbed by the cowardly attack on a #CRPF convoy in J&K in which many of our brave CRPF men have been martyred and a large number wounded, some critically. My condolences to the families of our martyrs. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured”, tweeted Congress Party President, Rahul Gandhi after the news surfaced in TV reports.
Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, expressed her sorrow and questioned, “How many more lives will be snuffed out before this madness ends?” through her tweet after the terror attack. “Disturbing news coming in from #awantipura. Twelve of our security personnel have been martyred and several have been injured. No words are enough to condemn the gruesome terror attack. How many more lives will be snuffed out before this madness ends?” Tweeted J&K former CM, Mehbooba Mufti.
“The nation will not forget the supreme sacrifice of our brave @crpfindia jawans. Paid my last respects to the martyrs of Pulwama in Srinagar today. Their sacrifice will not go in vain.” tweeted Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh. He also posted pictures of last rites where he was seen holding one side of a coffin of one of the martyrs.
Former Chief Minister of the state, Omar Abdullah, took to twitter and prayed for the CRPF personnel who lost their lives in the blast. “Terrible news coming from the valley. A number of CRPF soldiers are reported to have been killed & injured in an IED blast. I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. My prayers for the injured & condolences to the families of the bereaved. #Kashmir”, Omar Abdullah condemned the whole episode via his tweet.
Countries from all over the world have condemned the terror attack and have stood with India. United States of America (USA) in it’s statement, expressed strong condemnation for the dastardly attack by the JeM terrorists. “Stand by India, Pakistan must stop supporting for terrorism.” read the statement by US.
France also raised it’s shoulder to support India in this distress moment in the country. “We are by India’s side in fight against terrorism.” read the statement by France. The long lived friend of India, Russia, also extended it’s support for India and sought strong action on the perpetrators of the crime. “Perpetrators of attack must be duly punished.”, the statement read as released by Russia. Another nation, Canada, stood in support of India to fight against terrorism. “Stand in solidarity with India in fight to defeat Terrorism.” the statement from Canada was quoted as released. Not just these but the gulf countries too showed their solidarity with India against terrorism. United Arab Emirates (UAE) said, “Stand in solidarity with gov in fight against extremism.” while Afghanistan too stated, “Need close cooperation in fight against common enemy.”. The India’s friend, Israel, too condemned the ghastly attack by the extremists on the Indian forces. It stated, “Stand by Indian friends in this difficult hour.” while Sri Lanka also condemned by stating, “Strongly condemn brutal terrorist attack.”
China, too, on Friday, condemned the horrific attack by the terrorist group on the Indian forces. “We firmly oppose and strongly condemn all forms of terrorism. We hope relevant regional countries will cooperate to cope with the threat of terrorism and jointly uphold regional peace and stability,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman, Geng Shuan, was quoted as saying by media reports. However, China stood opposed to declaring JeM chief, Masood Azhar, as a global terrorist. By doing this, China seems to have backed Pakistan by declining to back India’s appeal to list Pakistan based terror group, JeM, chief, Masood Azhar, as a global terrorist by the United Nations (UN). “As for the issue of listing, I could tell you that the 1267 Committee of Security Council has a clear stipulation on the listing and procedure of the terrorist organisations” said the Geng Shuang in the media addressing on Friday.
There were protests held against Pakistan in various places in J&K’S, Varanasi including the National Capital, Delhi. Protesters are protesting at Pakistan Embassy in Delhi. They were outraged due to the huge loss to the nation and demanded for a quick action against Pakistan. Consequently, curfew was imposed in parts of Jammu after violent protests over Pulwama attack. Curfew imposed at Bus Stand, Nawabad, Bakshi Nagar, Peer Mitha, Pacca Danga, Channi Himmat, Janipur, Domana and Bagh-E-Bahu areas.
Meanwhile, PM Modi had called a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at his residence in Delhi to discuss the security situation in the state at the backdrop of the attack on Thursday. CCS meeting was attended by Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister (EAM), Sushma Swaraj, National Security Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval.
Moreover, suicide bomber Adil Ahmed Dar’s video is going viral on social media where the terrorist Adil starts of by saying that by the time everyone would see the video, he will be dead. He also says in the video that he had joined the JeM a year back. He could be heard saying that he was given the opportunity to carry out the attack and that by the time people are watching the video, he would be in heaven. He calls on the people of Kashmir to join the terrorist group JeM and strengthen the organisation. Adil could be seen showing his confidence in accomplishing their sinful mission and seeking more people to join them in this sin. In the video that is 10 minutes long, he boasts about the other attacks carried out by the JeM. He names few of the deadly attacks like the attack in Pathankot, Nagrota and Uri.
Details to know about the suicide bomber Adil Ahmed Dar:
According to police records, Adil Ahmad Dar, 22, was a school dropout from Gundibagh village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama. He dropped out of class 12 in a local school in Gundibagh in March 2017. He was given the name of Waqas commando by terrorist group, JeM. His village is barely 10 kilometres from the spot where his car, laden with explosives, rammed into CRPF’s bus carrying CRPF personnel. He had joined the terror outfit last year in 2018. Abdul Dar is the third local terrorist recruited by the Jaish-e-Mohammad for a big suicide attack.
Each and every citizen of the country is filled with anger and demanding for taking revenge from Pakistan for this brutal terrorist attack. Social media is flooded with comments which are expressing the grief and anger of the people. The government needs to take an immediate action against terrorism and Pakistan to control the angry citizens.
