Mohabbatein Actress Abused by Bikers in a Road Rage Incident, Booked under various Criminal Charges

Police has registered the case against the attackers under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The attackers were booked under Section 279 (Rash Driving or Driving on a public way), Section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), Section 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), Section 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), Section 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and Section 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intentions) of IPC.

The internet stormed heavily on January 29 after the news of ‘Zeher’ actress, Shamita Shetty, being, allegedly, abused in a road rage incident in Mumbai’s Thane area surfaced online. The 39-year old Bollywood actress who recently entered the Colors channel’s popular reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 9’ as a wildcard entry encountered a road rage incident on Tuesday. The ‘Mohabbatein’ actress was, allegedly, abused and her driver was slapped by 3 unknown accused in Thane on January 29.

The incident took place around 1:30 pm near Viviana Mall, Majiwada where a motorist followed by his two friends rammed into Shetty’s BMW. When her driver came out of the car to inspect the damage, the motorist and his friends, allegedly, started abusing him and the fight began between them. When Shamita stepped-in to ease up the fight, the trio, however, started commenting on her and also, allegedly, abused her. Later, they slapped her driver, Darshan Sawant, and threatened him before leaving.

The actress who was shocked after this incident approached Rabodi Police Station and lodged a complaint against the attackers. Sawant was not able to give complete information about the gang but was able to give the bike’s registration number. Police has registered the case against the attackers under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The attackers were booked under Section 279 (Rash Driving or Driving on a public way), Section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), Section 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), Section 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), Section 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and Section 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intentions) of IPC.

In the meanwhile, police managed to identify the vehicle and is now searching for the owner. Reports suggest that the trio work in an app based cab aggregator firm but the police did not confirm the same.

Few months ago, Television actress, Rupali Ganguly, shared a similar type of incident on social media along with pictures. She was on her way to drop her 5 year old son when her car bruised someone’s bike. The biker not just, allegedly, abused her but also smashed her car’s window resulting in bleeding arms.
