The Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) alliance in Karnataka is, seemingly, going through a tough phase as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, HD Kumaraswamy, is not looking happy with the Congress’ Member of Legislative Assembly (MLAs). The alliance is going to take a major turn as CM Kumaraswamy threatened Congress, on Monday, to quit his alliance with the latter if they don’t control their MLAs. This outburst was a reaction to the statement made by the followers of the Congress leader and the former chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramiah, on Sunday.

Congress MLAs, ST Somashekhar and MTB Nagaraj, who hail from Siddaramaiah’s camp, on Sunday, criticised Kumaraswamy by saying that no development has taken place in Karnataka since the formation of the new government which is led by HD Kumaraswamy. They also expressed openly that they consider their leader, Siddaramaiah, as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Siddaramaiah, who was present in the event, reportedly, agreed with their comments and said that he would have completed the development work if he was given another chance to become the Chief Minister.

Congress leaders have to watch all that issues, I’m not the concerned person for it. If they want to continue with it, I am ready to step down.”, reported news agency ANI. “They are crossing the line. Congress must control their MLAs,” he added.

Siddaramaiah has blamed the media for creating the trouble among the party. “You (media) are the people who create trouble. You ask one person, then the second person and then third person. He also said that he will have a word with the CM and assured that there is no problem in the alliance.

Congress leader, Mallikarjun Kharge, also stepped-in to clarify and clean the mess created by his party leaders. He said that these things create confusion in the alliance and MLAs should not speak openly on such issues and speaking against the wishes of high command is also not advisable. “They (Karnataka Congress party MLAs) should not react openly to the media. We have all come together to fight BJP-RSS. It is not advisable for any member to speak against wishes of the party high command. Such incidents will create confusion in the coalition,” Kharge told media while advising his party leaders to behave in line with the commands from the party high command.
