Ghazipur Violence: Ex-gratia announced for the Kin of Slain Police Constable, Police names 32 in the FIR; Nabs many

The incident of stone pelting on police officials in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur, allegedly, by protesters of Nishad Party on Saturday, has now attracted nationwide cognizance. The Ghazipur stone pelting claimed atleast one police official’s death and two locals injured, reported ANI. The incident occured on Saturday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present to address a gathering at Ghazipur. The protesters of Nishad Party were present at the gathering to protest to demand reservation for Nishads. The police officials were deployed at Ghazipur to prevent any untoward incident from taking place, however, as soon as PM Modi left the gathering, the protesters allegedly started pelting stones on police officials. The stone pelting caused death of a police official from Uttar Pradesh police, while two other locals were injured in the stone pelting. The president of Nishad Party, Sanjay Nishad, however, refuted his party workers’ involvement in the stone pelting incident. “It is BJP who is plotting against us. Not our party workers but BJP workers threw stones at people. It is easy to blame the weak as Yogi ji and Modi ji are in power,”, Nishad said over his Party workers’ involvement in the stone pelting, quoted ANI.

The son of the slain police constable, Suresh Vats, called his father’s death unfortunate and blamed the loopholes in the police department for his father’s death. “If the police are not able to protect its co-workers then what sought of a protection a common man should expect from them,” grieved VK Singh, son of slain Police Constable, quoted ANI. Ghazipur police have reportedly filed First Information Report (FIR) against 32 miscreants and have taken custody of many concerned to the case. “32 people have been named in the FIR. 60 unnamed people also mentioned in the FIR. A few people have also been arrested,” briefed MP Pathak, the Ghazipur circle officer, to ANI. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, declared the ex-gratia of Rs. 40 lac to the kin of the slain police constable and directed the police officials as well as District Magistrate to make immediate arrests of the culprits in the case and take stringent action against those responsible.
