It seems the defeat of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 5 crucial states’ Assembly Election i.e. in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Mizoram, which went on polling recently, has acted as a catalyst for the reunion of the opposition parties against BJP. The terrible loss of BJP in the 5 states has left the party shocked and astonished over the result, especially, of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh where the party ruled before getting dislodged by their biggest rival, Congress party, this year. As obvious as it would be, the united opposition parties matched each other’s tune in making some scathing attack on the saffron party, BJP. One of them to react to BJP’s biggest defeat, was Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, who made a direct comment on BJP. “Modi raj ki ulti ginti shuru ho gayi,” (the countdown begins for the end of PM Narendra Modi’s reign), tweeted Kejriwal after the party’s biggest defeat. Kejriwal is known for his anti-BJP attitude, to the extent that Kejriwal was trolled heavily on social media for blaming PM Modi for everything in the nation, from minute to the major ones.

The next in the list was former Dy. Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, the scion of Lalu Prasad Yadav and the leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Taking a swipe at BJP, the RJD leader thanked the people of 3 states to end the ‘Jumlebaazi’ of BJP. “I thank people of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan for the way they have voted against this tyranny. I think this was needed; it was needed to teach a lesson to those people who indulge in ‘jumlebaazi’. It’s the beginning, people will give them a true reply in 2019,” Tejashwi was quoted as saying by ANI. Tejashwi Yadav and his several family members including his father and RJD chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav, was charged by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under corruption charges in the IRCTC case, in 2017.

The next in the list to attack BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief, Sharad Pawar, who expressed his contentment over the Congress party’s overwhelming performance. “There is happiness among all parties except the BJP. Congress has played an important role in giving an alternative to the BJP. Congress was receptive towards other smaller parties,” said Pawar while expressing his displeasure over performance of PM Modi-led government in the last 4.5 years, quoted ANI. Sharad Pawar has been on-and-off with Congress party since he first broke up with Congress party in 1978.

BJP’s own ally in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena, joined the opposition parties’ chorus and congratulated the voters of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh for showing the courage to oust BJP from the 3 states. “Rather than getting into frivolous things like who is the alternative, voters of these states have shown the courage. I congratulate their courage,” said Uddhav Thackeray in a statement, quoted India Today. Thackeray’s cousin and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief, Raj Thackeray, also took a sling shot at BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and said that it’s defeat in the 3 states’ assembly election is a tight slap on the face of their cruel ruling. “These election results are a precursor to the Lok Sabha elections. This was bound to happen. This is the people’s slap on the face for the BJP’s cruel rule,” Thackeray said while claiming the Congress party’s alleged ‘Pappu’ (Rahul Gandhi) has become honourable and respectable after the result.
