Nokia 8.1 launches in India with 4GB RAM and Dual Lens Camera, Does it Worth Buying?

The highlight feature of Nokia 8.1 includes the Android One support which means the user will get timely update as soon as the new Android update is released. The Nokia brand licensee, HMD Global, has launched Nokia 8.1 in India on Monday at en event. It is the global model of Nokia X7 which got launched in October this year in China. The Nokia X7 which made a remarkable entry in the Chinese market, the company has brought it for the Indian consumers now. The highlight feature of the smartphone includes the Android One support which means the user will get timely update as soon as the new Android update is released. The other highlight features include Android Pie OS, dual lens camera by Zeiss, Snapdragon 710 chipset and 3,500mAh battery with fast charging support. When it comes to the price, the Nokia 8.1 is set at the price of INR 26,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage. The color variants include Blue/Silver and Iron/Steel color, and the smartphone is said to go on sale from December 25 via Amazon India, Nokia site as well as top mobile retailers in the country. We do not know if the price it carries worth for a 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage. Although the smartphone has tried to woo the consumers with it’s dual lens camera module and Android One support, however, the rest of the specs do not give us a wow feeling. The Nokia 8.1 sports a 6.18-inch FHD+ display with screen resolution of 1080×2244 pixel, 19:9 aspect ratio with 81.5% screen-to-body ratio and pixel density of 408ppi. On the optics front, the rear camera setup comprises of dual lens camera by Carl Zeiss. The dual lens camera features 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.55 aperture and EIS, OIS, dual Photo Diode technology and 13-megapixel secondary fixed-focus depth-sensing sensor. The dual camera module is backed by a dual-LED support. The selfie camera features a 20-megapixel fixed-focus sensor with something like 4-in-1 pixel technology for low light photography and it is also touted to feature bokeh effect. The bokeh effect is said to be effective along with another Pro Camera UI which would enable a user to use several other features of the camera. Under the hood, the Nokia 8.1 runs on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-box with Android One support, and is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 710 SoC, clocked at up to 2.2GHz, paired with 4GB LPDDR4x RAM. The inbuilt storage extends to up to 400GB using a MicroSD card, while the inbuilt storage capacity limits to only 64GB. The inbuilt battery capacity is of 3,500mAh with the touted 18W fast charging support.

The connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE SIM support, dual band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0 LE, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, Type C 1.0 reversible connector with OTG support and 3.5mm Audio Jack. The sensors onboard include fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, proximity, gyro and digital compass. The Nokia 8.1 weighs 180g and measures 154.8×75.8x8mm.
