Oppo R17 Pro launched with VOOC Flash Charging and Triple Rear Camera, Does it worth the price?

Oppo R17 Pro is set at a price of INR 45,990 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage. The smartphone was available for pre-order on Oppo's own site from December 1, while it was made available on Amazon India from December 4 from 09.30pm. The smartphone will go on sale from December 7 on e-com giants like Amazon India, Flipkart and PayTm Mall as well as offline stores of Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales and many other.

The BBK electronics subsidiary brand, Oppo, has launched another smartphone, Oppo R17 Pro, in India, touted to feature triple lens camera at the back along with it’s signature feature VOOC flash charge for it’s 3,700mAh battery. The VOOC flash charging is touted to charge your smartphone to up to 40% on just 10 minutes charging. The smartphone was earlier launched in the China market in August this year, and the company has presented the smartphone for the Indian consumers now. The highlight features apart from the VOOC flash charging and triple lens camera module, it features 19.5:9 display and 8GB RAM.

The Oppo R17 Pro sports a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with screen resolution of 1080×2340 pixels, water-drop notch design, 19.5:9 aspect ratio with 91.5% screen-to-body ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. With regards to the optics, the Oppo R17 Pro sports a triple lens camera at the back with 12-megapixel primary sensor with variable f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture, 20-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.6 aperture and the third sensor is a 3D TOF (Time of Flight) stereo camera which is widely used for face unlock feature but as this is in the rear camera module, it may be used for animoji-style gimmicks and other based on the update the company offers in the time to come. The rear camera module comes with OIS i.e. Optical Image Stabilization, dual Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and Ultra Night mode for photography in the night or low light condition. The selfie shooter bears a 25-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and AI Beautification features.

The Oppo R17 Pro runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, which could have been the latest Pie version, however, the company may update it in the future. It is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 710 SoC paired with 8GB RAM. The inbuilt storage capacity exceeds to 128GB, expandable to up to 256GB using a MicroSD card. The battery with VOOC flash charging support comes for 3,700mAh battery, which isn’t impressive for most of the users. Anyway, let’s now look at the connectivity options.

The Oppo R17 Pro features dual 4G VoLTE SIM support, dual band WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type C with OTG support, GPS/A-GPS and NFC. The sensors onboard include face recognition, in-display fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, proximity, Accelerometer and Digital Compass. The smartphone weighs 183g and measures 157.6×74.6×7.9mm.
