The Shiv Sena supremo, Uddhav Thackeray, reached Ayodhya on Saturday and admonished the BJP-led Central Government for being in a deep sleep since last four years on Ram temple issue. Thackeray has reached Ayodhya to join the the congregation led by Shiv Sena while there is another congregation by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), and other Hindu right wing organizations in Ayodhya on the issue of delay in construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, on Sunday. The Shiv Sena scion roared from Ayodhya after arrival and emphasised on getting a date from central government on construction of Lord Ram’s temple in Ayodhya where the most controversial mosque, the Babri Masjid, was demolished in 1992 by Hindu hardliners. “We want the date when the temple will be made. First, tell us when you (central government) will make the temple, then we can talk on other things. Today, I want the date. I don’t want to take the credit for construction of Ram temple, we want a date,” Thackeray said to media after his arrival in Ayodhya on Saturday, quoted ANI.

He further recalled the mythological character from Ramayana, Khumbhakaran, and linked it to the character of the BJP-led central government who allegedly is sleeping from last four years, adding that whatever he is doing is for the Hindus and not for the sake of politics. “When I was coming here, some people asked me why you want to come here. Is there politics behind this because elections are near? My answer was quite simple. We recall those, whom we forget. I am not here to do politics. Today is an important day in my life. Every Hindu wants the Ram temple to be made. Today, I have come here to wake up Khumbhakaran. Khumbhakaran was not just a part of Ramayana, he is there today also. Khumbhakaran used to sleep for six months in Ramayana, but present-day Khumbhakaran has been sleeping for four years. So, I have come here to wake him up,” Thackeray said while addressing a gathering along with media in Ayodhya, quoted ANI.

The Shiv Sena chief also assured his party’s complete support if the central government plans to pass any ordinance for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. “If you are going to bring the ordinance on the Ram temple, the Shiv Sena will definitely support. I want all to come together and make the Ram temple. That way the construction work can be completed as soon as possible,” added Shiv Sena chief, quoted ANI. He along with his son, Aditya Thackeray, went to Sarayu River to offer prayers, just a day before the mass congregation of Hindu organisations in Ayodhya on Sunday.

In the meanwhile, the Yoga Guru, Ramdev, has also stepped forward to tune his views on Ram temple. He expressed the utmost need of a law on Ram temple construction, failure to which, people will construct the Ram temple by themselves which will lead to disturbance of social harmony. “People have lost patience. Bring a law for Ram temple or else people will start building it on their own. If people do that, communal harmony could be disturbed. I believe there is no opposition to Ram in the country, all Hindus, Muslims and Christians are his descendants,” said Ramdev to media, quoted ANI. Notably, Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land title suit till January 2019 to fix the next hearing date in the case. Earlier, the apex court had hinted at back-to-back hearing on the matter and hence, the expectation of result in the case had risen among the people but due to the adjournment, the politics has been at it’s peak and the demand for an ordinance in the case has been becoming the need of the hour. The BJP government seems to be puzzled to handle the situation since it has it’s party’s government in Uttar Pradesh and centre, both.
