The renowned politician and former cabinet minister of Uttar Pradesh, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, has finally unveiled his wish to launch his own political party in Uttar Pradesh ahead of Lok Sabha General Election 2019. Raja Bhaiya, on Friday, announced that he has approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) to register his party. Talking to media, he said that he has completed 25 years in Politics and the time has come for him to form his own party. “I have completed 25 years in Politics, have been an independent politician and MLA, so now have decided to form a political party. I have approached the EC for registration.” Singh told media during the press conference, quoted ANI. The name of his party could probably be finalized to Jansatta Dal, Jansatta Party or Jansatta Loktantrik Party, he said in the press conference.
Raghuraj Pratap Singh hails from royal Bhadri estate of Oudh and is a strong political personality in Uttar Pradesh who has won his seat of Kunda constituency of Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh six times independently as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA). Even though he fought independently, without any political party’s support, he still held important portfolios in the Uttar Pradesh government under Kalyan Singh, Ram Prakash Gupta, Rajnath Singh, Mulayam Singh Yadav, and Akhilesh Yadav. In 2003, he was charged under Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) under the Mayavati-led government in Uttar Pradesh. He was even jailed along with his aide, Akshay Pratap Singh, under the National Security Act in 2002. After he got released, he became the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies in Akhilesh Kumar Yadav-led government. He had to resign from his cabinet ministry on March 04, 2013 after his name surfaced in the alleged murder of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Zia-ul-Haq, in Kunda.
